About Us
Texas Toy Boxes was born in early 2005, soon after learning that my wife and I were going to have our first child. At the time, we owned a tractor dealership and my wife wanted a construction theme nursery with a neat toy box. After weeks of looking for that special toy box we found nothing but the standard rectangle, press board boxes with a few decals on them. After reading about the flood of recalls on the Chinese toy boxes with their deadly lids and lead tainted paint, I finally decided that I would just build my own. I had a good woodworking background, some very nice design software, and lots of great family input and ideas so building a simple toy box was not a huge deal. The simple toy box evolved.. and evolved.. and evolved into what you see today.
We ended up giving our son the dump truck as his first toy box when he was a year old (Yes, it took me longer than expected to get the design perfected). He LOVED it. In fact, everyone that saw this box loved it and wanted to know where they could get one. Before long, without any advertising we were getting requests and orders, and it was clear that this simple idea was about to get big. We built a new building, bought the necessary tools and machinery, and after around 100 more prototypes, material changes, and design changes, here we are- building the ultimate toy boxes.
We have recently expanded to offer a complete line of high quality original children's furniture. Our current pieces are the Old School Desk, Toddler Desk, Classic Desk & Chair, Classic Table & Chairs, and the Rocking Chair. These new pieces are built with all of the same requirements as our toy boxes and are all still built right here in our Iowa Park, Texas shop. We are still a family owned and operated business and are still committed to building a superior quality product. Our toy boxes and furniture are more expensive than many that you will find, but we have no intentions of cutting corners to offer a cheaper product.
